Prepaid for BlackBerry : Frequently Asked Questions
- How do I signup for Prepid for BlackBerry?
Visit one of the bmobile retail stores, or select authorized dealers to register for the plan.
- What does the $10 per week charge include?
This charge includes unlimited email and Internet browsing via your Blackberry on a weekly basis.
- How is the $10 charged?
Every Saturday morning the charge of $10 will be deducted from your prepaid account's main balance. Customers therefore need to ensure that they have a least $10 on their account before the weekly charge is debited from their prepaid account.
- What if I sign up mid week, will I be charged the full $10?
No. On initial signup you will be charged a prorated charge for the period from the date of signup to the next charge date on Friday.
- When my balance reaches zero will my BlackBerry service be disabled?
No. your BlackBerry service will still continue to work, but outgoing voice and SMS traffic will not be allowed. You will have a 7 day grace period to recharge your account. On your next top up the amount owed to Cable & Wireless is automatically deducted.
- What happens if I do not topup my account after the 7 day grace period?
The Prepaid for BlackBerry service will be cancelled and you will no longer be able to send or receive emails or browse via the BlackBerry browser. You will still maintain your prepaid number. Please note that should the BlackBerry feature be removed existing emails may still be available on the device but they will not permanently stored unless they are saved. You r can still recharge your account to restore the balance to a positive state and thereby resume normal voice calling; however the Blackberry service will no longer work.
- What if I have $9 or less when the weekly fee is about to be pulled for BlackBerry service?
After the deduction of $10 is made from your account there will be a negative balance. You will have 7 days grace period to topup and restore the balance to a positive amount. Your balance can remain zero or negative for 7 days only before BlackBerry service is cancelled.
- If my Prepaid for BlackBerry service is disconnected because of insufficient funds can I reapply for the service?
Yes. Please not that a $10 non refundable reactivation fee will apply. Also, if there is a negative balance on the account you will need to first top-up in order to make the balance positive, and restore the mobile service.
- Does the service include roaming?
Yes. You can roam to any of the prepaid roaming locations. Data roaming charges will apply.
- What if I'm travelling will the $10 charge still be deducted on a weekly basis, and how will I be able to keep my balance topped up to avoid disconnection ?
Yes. The charge is still taken off on a weekly basis and customers need to ensure adequate funds are available on their prepaid account to cover any weekly charges as well as their roaming charges while travelling. You can topup before travellling or, while abroad you can topup by using Direct Top-up, Western Union (USA), or Etopup (Caribbean islands where bmobile operates), or you can ask someone at home to add top-up to your account.
- Can I pay for the service on a monthly basis?
No. Prepaid for BlackBerry is charged on a weekly basis. If you normally topup on a monthly basis you'll need to ensure that your prepaid account has enough funds on a weekly basis to cover the Prepaid for BlackBerry service charge.
- Will I still be able to receive calls and SMS if my balance is negative?
You will still receive SMS and calls when your balance is negative but you will not be able to make calls or send SMS.
- When registering can I use my existing bmobile prepaid phone number, or will a new number be required?
Yes. Prepaid for BlackBerry can be added to the your existing prepaid mobile number.
- Can I use an existing email account with the service?
Yes. Most POP3 email accounts (e.g. Caribsurf, Sunbeach, etc.) can be setup with Prepaid for BlackBerry. However, corporate email accounts that use an internal mail server (e.g. Microsoft Exchange) will require a BlackBerry Enterprise Server which is only available with postpaid service.
- I'm a postpaid customer with BlackBerry service, can I switch to Prepaid for BlackBerry?
If you have postpaid BlackBerry service today and wish to change to Prepaid for BlackBerry, you will be required to settle any outstanding charges for the term of the postpaid contract and you would need to change their postpaid number to a prepaid number. As a postpaid customer you can have Blackberry service for as little as $34.99 monthly.
